Matrona is noted for its thick, fleshy leaves that are a gray-green colour with a hint of pink along the edges. The stems are sturdy with a reddish hue, and in late summer to early fall, this plant produces clusters or star-shaped pale pink flowers. It prefers full sun for optimal growth and thrives in well-drained soil, including poor soils. It's drought tolerant once established making it suitable for rock gardens and dry areas. Suitable for container planting and commonly used in borders and as a specimen plant. Can be cut back in early spring to maintain shape and encourage more growth. Matrona is a magnet for bees and butterflies. Deer resistant.
